The first preparation meeting for the Small Green Agriculture Competitiveness Project (SGACP) was held on the 07 September 2023 at Don Chan Palace Hotel. The meeting was Co-chaired by Dr. Phommy Inthichack, Deputy Director General of Department of Planning and Cooperation and Mr. Binh Thang Cao Task Team Leader from the World Bank. The meeting was participated by DG and DDG form departments and institutes of MAF and MOIC, Provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry from the target provinces, WB team and relevant stakeholders. The purpose of this meeting is to re-evaluate the progress and results of the implementation of the LACP at the end of the project and the indicators can be achieved as expected. The project coordinators of Laos and the World Bank are determined to compile the actual information that the project can achieve and discuss together to monitor the progress of the project with appropriate directions and plans. In the meeting, the chairman also called on the central and provincial coordinators to pay attention to exchanging opinions on the content, activity plan and budget plan which are the goals of the new project informally named Small Green Agriculture Competitiveness Project (SGACP) Coordinate with the World Bank team to give advice so that there is a high probability of getting approval from the World Bank in the next step by taking the success of the implementation of the project that can be achieved as expected to enhance the implementation in 08 target provinces namely: 5 old project provinces: Vientiane, Xayabuli Province, Vientiane Province, Borikamxay and Khammouan Province and add 3 new provinces namely: Savannakhet Province, Saravan Province and Champasak Province, which 8 provinces are agricultural production areas, especially those with development potential that require funding in terms of techniques, technology and other factors in production, which can be a force for the development of livelihoods and the economy of the local area.
