LACP the 8th implementation support mission was help during 17-28 June 2022, the mission was met with relevant stakeholders and visit the project areas in 05 target provinces. The objectives of the mission are to review the progress and results of project implementation, follow up on the agreed actions from the Mid-Term Review mission in held in October 2021, and discuss the preparation of the project restructuring. The mission will review the progress in achieving the project’s results indicators and the implementation of investment plans by farmer production groups (FPGs), including farmer adoption of good agriculture practices (GAP) and the implementation of the business plans by agribusinesses (ABs).
Through the implementation support mission, the project has achieved great success, many activities have been implemented and achieved as expected especially, more than 14,547 farmers were organized into commercial production groups and established a network of contractual agreements between farmers’ groups and the agribusiness. The project has provided matching grant to 248 group, 11 maize production group in Phieng District, Xayabouly Province and one vegetable growing group in Vientiane Capital and Vientiane have received the matching grant, rehabilitation of 71 irrigation projects, 19 projects covering an area of 3,325 hectares have been completed so far, so the work is still delayed and needs to be revised faster to achieve the expected of 71 projects covering an area of 10,322 hectares, The AVCF team has completed the screening and evaluation of 75 business plans and has identified 32 plans to formulate a comprehensive business plan, two of which have been approved by the World Bank and are currently being implemented.
For the result of this mission, the World Bank team will use the outcomes as a reference point for priorities in the next six months of discussions and to prepare for the future project’s the next mission in December 2022.
